Thankful Thursday

“To fully live–to live full of grace and joy and all that is beauty eternal. It is possible, wildly.” Ann Voskamp, One Thousand Gifts

It has been another fuller-than-full week. We have a three-day weekend ahead, and truly, lots of fun planned with friends from various segments of our lives, but still I brought work home to sandwich in between the adventures. It is what it is for now, and I see light shining in the darkness.

All the more reason to be thankful!

  • Still no Snake, but thankful there have been no scary Snake appearances and no smooshed, stepped on, or otherwise maimed Snake, either.
  • Thankful for a job that fulfills me even when it overflows its boundaries.
  • Thankful for new ways of being, new strategies emerging from chaos, and others who begin to see from my vantage point for the common good.
  • Thankful for health, successfully fending off The Cold despite the guys succumbing to its sleep-stealing, snot-inducing, detestable ways.
  • Thankful for a flock of quail on the church patio, just being their darling little Alfalfa-styled selves.
  • Thankful for others who have been patient with me when I oh-no-she-didn’t deserve it.
  • Thankful for opportunities to share from the beautiful lessons I’ve learned in pain. Thankful for the women with whom I can pray and forge new relationships and prayerfully bring joy so they won’t hurt similarly.
  • Thankful for the rich community of women who surround me with thoughtfulness, love, and joy. I can’t imagine doing life at this stage without them.
  • Thankful for the extra hour of at-work time today, innocently offered by a friend who took Tween to a fun event he would otherwise have missed, and extra-thankful for the project that lickety-split came together after weeks of head-banging-on-desk just in time to pack up for the day.
  • So thankful for a husband who decides that his wife’s sudden craving for Chinese food absolutely warrants follow-through, who places the order and goes to pick it up. A bonus no-cooking night, and delish Chinese food? Chill some chardonnay, and did you say, “Shoulder rub”? Oh, yes please!

Happy weekending, friends!
